The Tasmanian Certificate of Education
The Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) recognises successful completion of senior secondary education. Students work toward the required credit points and the everyday adult standards in reading, writing and communication, mathematics, and the use of computers and the internet.
Students also complete Career and Life Planning. Your course counsellor will help you choose a two-year program that supports the TCE and your intended pathway.
The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank
The TCE does not by itself provide university entrance. Students seeking direct entry to university generally need an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), calculated from eligible Level 3 and 4 subjects under Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification requirements.
Subject prerequisites and entry requirements vary between courses and institutions, so students should check requirements early and discuss their plan with a course counsellor.
